First impression was...a bit busy, but information is the thing and I find that useful.

I'm happy.

DeathBus Fri Feb 29, 2008 5:06 am

My 2 cents, I dont like it. I really dont see a need for an og post date, this might be good for a site admin or mods, but I have not really heard a good case for it, to much info in one spot, and the thread Titles still dont stand out as much, I think visually it was much better the old way. Maybe it will grow on me.

Paul D Fri Feb 29, 2008 5:25 am

I like it!

As I am looking at posts, it is much easier to tell which ones are come back out of the dead from years ago.

glutamodo Fri Feb 29, 2008 5:40 am

I don't really like it that much either - if such info is to be included, I think perhaps an additional column for the origination would be better, and keep the thread titles isolated.

Too busy and distracting. Threads aren't like milk; they don't need freshness dating to make them useful.

i agree. what is the point of knowing when the thread started? it has the date and time on the first post.
i don't like the new arrangement.

wasn't this tried once before (i think it was something like "view newest post" or something like that)?

John Moxon Fri Feb 29, 2008 6:44 am

Whatever happens let's not have a vote on it, unless it's amongst the moderators :!:

Although I am sure I would get used to the change I don't care for it either...

I concur
it just seems a little too busy
If absolutely needed to find the date the thread started, I could just open it and check the first post.

+ 1

EverettB Fri Feb 29, 2008 9:41 am

Well, I decided to reverse a lot of it and just add the date in the "Author" column.

I think that's better. The thread titles are not obscured and the start date is there if you need it.

I also changed the start dates to use "Today" and "Yesterday".
A side effect of that is that the dates in the Profile screens and a few other places also change to "Today" and "Yesterday" which I like.

Thanks!

This is particularly useful when you are searching through the hundreds of threads regarding say, "short shocks" for example, and you've posted in many threads regarding the same subject. If you were positive that you posted in a thread that originated back in 2006, this feature comes in handy. It's already helped me out once already.

Ev, how about adding the original post date on the search results page?

EverettB Fri Feb 29, 2008 10:38 am

Yes, it's on the Search Results too.

keifernet Fri Feb 29, 2008 11:04 am

That cleaned it up nicely.... :D
