sled Tue Feb 26, 2008 8:31 pm

fooks is right.

also im pretty sure a single wheel is still Fuchs, as well as multiple wheels being Fuchs

sharkskinman Tue Feb 26, 2008 9:57 pm

Yeah i agree with Glen
wikipedia says its pronounced like "books"

So Fooks

My german roommate says that its foo-chs
as you would barely hear the H but hear the H drawn out

A friend of mine that teaches german at our local university said it was 'fook' sounding like the oo in food instead of the more u sound in 'book'. But she said the sound could differ depending on your local.

HMBR Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:31 am

I always pronounced "fooks".

vic Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:35 am

I stand corrected then, Fooks is right

vw_uebersetzer Wed Feb 27, 2008 1:02 pm

This is a hard one for a phronetic break down "fooks" might work depending on your accent or you could try "Fux" and say the U like the U in fluent. :?
By the way if anyone wasnt aware fuchs means fox in German.

I really do not mean to 'hi-jack'.....but on a similar note, may I ask how you pronounce KAFER. is the "A" sound like "ahh" or like saying 'paper'?
Thanks, as I've heard it said both ways :?

Yes, "a Fuchs rim" or "several Fuchs rims."

kafer is pronounced kay-fer, it is actually spelled käfer with the umlaut above the A to indicate the vowel sound.

You're still saying it wrong. It is Fuchs

And one wheels is still a Fuchs. Not a Fuch!
That would be like saying "its one fock, but two fox". (Its german for fox BTW)
