| Swapped out all of my old door handles for a matching set. 1 key to open/lock everything now and as soon as I can swap out the ignition switch 1 key will work the entire thing! Before I had 3 keys: ignition, front doors, hatch and I didn't have a key for the slider. Kind of silly to be excited but I am. 8) |

Got new balljoints pressed, torsion arms in, shocks installed, & all brake hoses finally replaced. Need to finish the rest of the front end this week or next.

Heh, I do too. I just kind of try not to think about it though. |

Get out of SoCal and it isn't as frightening. I had to finish up rebuilding my Mopar right after the Sylmar quake. Could only use one eye because the other eye was continually watching a hanging lamp. The instant the lamp would start to swing I'd be out from underneath, maybe a couple dozen times. Jackstands just make it so it falls farther whether it's a swaying quake or a bounce quake.
What did I do recently for the bus? Was forced to put on my wiper blades yesterday. |

This weekend I finally replaced both emergency brake cables. It's only been 3 years since one of them snapped. I also checked and adjusted both rear brakes since they haven't felt quite right lately. Now the thing stops smoothly (no strange pull from all the braking being done by the front brakes) and the brake pedal feels like it should.
I should not have let the safety issues go so long. The camper is now my daily driver again as well as the only bus I own anymore. It is also camping season, which means we'll have a lot more weight in it much of the time. It feels good to be all safe and sound now. |

Been flyin under the radar for a while without posting work done on her cause she's so far from what I envision. But the other day I had my stereo guy put a deck in her and today I dropped the motor out with only the smallest amount of help to undo the top 2 bolts! This is a big deal for me because until today I've only ever done just about most everything else but that...
Kinda broke my cherry!
So I ordered my 1776cc pistons and jug kit from CB performance along with a 110 Cam, an aluminum gear set and lifters.
Also getting the transaxle redone with new taller ring and pinion and 4th gear set so she'll cruise the hwy 75 mph @ 3600ish rpms
Finally droppin' some real coin on the ol' girl...
I have some photos but I need to resize them to make them fit on here... |

Danno, you know you have to machine your old case out for the 1176 stuff right? sounds like your on the right track to a nice highway cruisin bus with a 1176 and a taller tranny! Are you going to do a 1776 single port or dual? you get better low end tordue with a single, I did a s/p 1776 in my old 71 crew cab, and loved it! dual kadrons !!!!

| Two new tie rods and both axles replaced today. Bus steers to the right a little now which I'll have to get sorted out. Any suggestions? Also, we'll see how long those "new" empi axles that bus depot carries last. |

| you need a good front end alignment. empi axles are decent for the money....just make sure you grease them cause they dont always have grease in them |

Yep, I am gonna be tearing down the motor and get the case and heads off to the machine shop tomorrow when the new parts arrive. The heads are dual port in "like new" condition so I'm just stickin with those... I have a set of baby dellortos to go with em and i'm told they'll work really well. (fingers crossed) I wonder how many more torques you get with your single port heads though, sounds interesting... |

Put in a new starter yesterday. Just what the Dr. ordered.
Things he also ordered....
- resecure the alternator bracket to the exhaust manifold
- figure out what's up with this missing bolt on my front tranny mount
- tack down some loose tin on the bottom side of the motor
- install new cv shafts...old ones are dangerously worn |

I plan on doing the bamboo rods thing too, do you have a close up pic of what you used to attach them to the metal?
Where did you get your rods? I was gonna grab mine from Home Depot but I haven't gone to check them out yet.
I really like what you have going on there! |
