^^^Looks like a good fit. How easy was the swap?

This is / was the rear mounting bracket from the cruiser, each bracket gave me two VW brackets which i bolted to the track of the pt cruiser seats on the walkthru side of each seat.

Time including cutting the brackets (with a hack saw) was about 4 hours. I need to do some tweakingto the passenger side seat so it moves a little easier. I did not remove the originalattachment point on the passenger seat that is welded in place, i did remove the bolt on one which is actually the samespacing as the holes on the pt cruiser bracket.

Yesterday was a day to spend some quality time with these used Dansk heat exchangers to get the exhaust ports true with each other. Not only were both sides not parallel, but the steps weren't allowing the copper gaskets to fully seal. So then I spent some more time knocking down the tops of the flanges to ensure the copper gaskets get enough crush, and annealed the new gaskets with a propane torch.

Got the bamboo curtain rods installed today!

Don't mind the shoelaces....I have to sew something nicer.
For some reason my flash wouldn't turn on for this last shot but here's the back hatch

I want to replace the sliding door track with bamboo but I couldn't figure out how to get it off. I think it will look nicer and won't be as much of a pain in the ass to open and close.

The curtain tract above the slider is held on with pop rivets. Just use a drill to drill the head of the rivets off. Any bit larger than 1/8" will do it.

Darn, that's pretty obvious now that I think about it thanks!

That is different! Any reason why you didn't go with Vanagon ones?

it is a 73 so the tracks are diffrent then a Vanagon's, also like the bolsters, the seats are pretty comfy, and they were cheap

My company hosted a fundraiser Car Wash....

It is amazing how quickly a bus can be washed when there are 10 people working on it, and how forgiving you can be when they miss a spot.

Those look really cool. Nice work.

While camping this weekend I adjusted the carburetor per Bentley and I adjusted the choke, too, so it doesn't partially stay on anymore. 42 mph over Stevens Pass instead of the usually 30. Sweet!

Got the tie rods on, and the rest of the front end buttoned up. Still needs an alignment. Next was installation of new rear drums, and had to uh, modify the right side backing plate to fit the drum- guess I'm adding a new one to the never ending parts wish list.
I finally bled the brakes using a garden sprayer that was still new unused in the crawl space. It worked almost too easily, screw using the mity-vac from now on.

What? how do you do that?

the rear fan hub seal wasn't my oil leak...so I fixed the oil refill pipe leak, and the push rod tube seals leak(no wirespring thing on the tubes, glued in place with orange rtv,and rocker arm peds upside down),got springs off my spare engine, adjusted valves and installed new rocker gaskets, tightened the exhaust manifolds@the head(all loose),bent some cooling tin back into shape, so I could use my new alt. adjust hole plug thingie...but wait there's more...to do...

BUffed my Bus(and washed my Golf) and also changed the Oil.

California Westy Tue Mar 23, 2010 3:16 pm

Loaded the Judas on a flatbed AAA truck. I just cranks over. Getting real close to letting someone else own a nice rust free Westy.

It was a sad day today. While driving to the store I saw a cactus cowboy lying on the side of the road. I looked over and not only was mine messing but the antenna too. On the way back I stopped. The antenna was nowere to be found, the cawboy had been stripped and beaten. He will be missed. :(

Google is your friend===> DIY Brake Bleeder

I did mine a bit different, and don't put the brake fluid in the pressure vessel, but only use it to pressurize the header tank/reservoir. PM me if you want to know more.
