Today I took out the batteries, washed them, checked the water levels and put Vaseline on the terminals. I also cleaned up all of the wires and put some Vaseline on them as well. I had to replace one wire that had corroded right through. Getting ready for spring!

Finally installed my engine yesterday but fried my FI harness when i tried starting it up. Should have looked at it closer. Going to the junk yards today for a new one.

Drove from Long Island to Philadelphia to pick up a transmission for it.

EZ Gruv Sun Mar 09, 2008 10:04 am

I moved it about 10 feet so the cement truck had room to park.

Removed the decklid...cleaned 37 years of grime off the original paint. Massaged out a couple tweaks in it. Polished and waxed the paint front and back side. I painted replacement hinges from Wolfsburg West with color matched paint in a rattle can. (One of the original hinges had a nail for the pivot pin). Replaced the rubber seals around the hinges and the decklid seal with new. Also replaced the license light seal.

I thought about how I can replace the front left chassis leg that supports the steering box, clutch pedal and front beam. Really I just have to find a garage to rent......

wyomingriviera Sun Mar 09, 2008 3:12 pm

Replaced disintegrating horse hair cushions with Wolfsburg West coco mat...what a nice difference.

Cleaned front door locks so that they move a little easier.

Got a "new" (to me) auxillery battery when a buddies roomate left town (in a diesel rabbit.)

I took my bus out for a test drive after refitting the engine again to do the fly wheel seal and try out the electronic points.
the test drive was to the local woods with the family for a walk and picnic...

All went well :D
