Is the frame of the visor black as it appears to be in the Dec 1950 das Auto picture? Very interesting. In the July 1950 pic there also seems to be a 90 degree bent in the edge of the visor. Is that the case with your friends visor? What month was car born?

The frame is chrome steel (mine to) and the visor has a 45 degree bent, see inside the red cicle

Thanks for the informaton and pictures Bengt. Here´s mine. The frame is aluminium. I do not know to what year split vert it is original to (if any) but I like it and will use it.

I saw BBT Bobs -52 had aluminium frame and that is also an unrestored car so it is hard to say exactly what is correct or not, use the one you have, it looks very nice, noone can say that its wrong.

Isn't that an Oval visor - passenger side?

The car on the magazine is a early 49 Karmann vert. The first cars had no hinge mirror. Would be intereting to know when they have started with that.

Split visors don't have a raised lip. They are flat. Ovals have the raised lip - like the one pictured. What am I missing?

All the oval visors in the ads are curved in the area of the raised lip. Mine is streight. There is a similar in the galleries though. Part of a funky R side door window - windshield visor combo.

There's something about that mirror/Visor set up,just doesn't look right.
I spent 60 hours polishing the scratches out of my visor, yes i know "sad bastard".And when you've stared at one for that long.

That Visor is definitely not for a split bug. Replacement visor or oval at best.

Well i got it back from the blaster's and  . I have to take it back to Matt Howard and get it fixed in some areas of concern.

I called Matt and set a date in 3 weeks to have it worked on again, I'll update it as soon as i know the outcome 8)

I would agree with that statement..................It's not even correct for an early oval. That appears to be a '54 and later replacement visor.

Look forward to more pictures of both.
