Hello all:
I recently moved from Orange County to McKinney Texas and I own a 1956 VW beetle that I need to finish the restoration and the only thing I am missing is the wiring of the semaphores, head lights and brakes. I can make it work, but I want it done right in the same way it was done from factory. I really don't have the time to do it myself. What I need is to know a shop around this area that is reliable and trusted so I can take my car to have it finish.
Anyone? |

Welcome to the Dallas area. Enjoying the current weather??
Try The Bug Stop. It is in Arlington Texas. You can get to the website by:
http://www.texasbugstop.com/
They have several vintage bugs and provide service, parts, and possibly restoration?
There is also Earl Mann's Bug Shop in Ardmore, Oklahoma. It is not too far from McKinney. Earl has been working on bugs for years and is a full restoration shop. Although most of his restorations are on the newer bugs I am sure he would be happy to help with a nice old 56. He is at
http://www.earlmannbugshop.com/
I also have a 56 that I am in process of restoration.

Thanks a lot Chris. I guess I will try the one in Arlington first since it is the closer one but the one in OK is not that far either.
Have you ever heard of this guys:
http://www.glasscars.com/
I always drive by and see the shop. They have lots of VW's and the reviews are good on the web.
Any references? |

I have seen the shop as well but have not taken the time to stop and look at what they offer. It is not too far from work, I may go check them out one day. If you go there, let me know how they are.

| I went to that shop, and I have to say that even if it is not anymore an exclusive VW shop, they still have the expertise. They wired my car exactly like the specs and charged me what the average people charges (which is always more than what I am willing to pay) but the quality was great. I recommend this shop. |

Thank you very much for suggesting me to go to this shop. I went to Billy's shop (it is kind of like in the middle of the boondocks) and he fixed my semaphores. They now work and definetivily he knows about VWs.
The prices are extremely reasonable and I would recomend his services to anyone.
There is one catch for those that care about the "looks" of a shop. His shop is full of cars, full of parts and does look a little messy, but please do not let the looks deceive you. Bily knows how to work on VW's, is honest and he is a "one stop shop" he will do it all.
I will recommend him 120%. |
