| My son finished our tie rod issue and went for a test drive. We overheated cause the thermostat was bad. started running rough and when we finally got home he refilled coolant and saw bubbles in the coolant as it was running. We decided to change the head gasket so everything is off now but we just cant seem to find a torx bit size to get the head off. If anyone knows what size this is please let us know so we don't go buying a whole set of large ones that we probably wont use again. Thanks in advance as always. |

Those aren't Torx, those are "triple square" , also known as 12-point sockets. Do they have 12 points to them? If so you'll need a tool like these. I've seen sets of them sold at larger auto parts stores as well. If you buy one separately, the one you'll need is the big one, the 12mm. (Its called 12mm for the 12mm thread of the bolt it'll unscrew, not because the tool is 12mm wide)

| Thank you very much. And a million thanks for your research and posting the links. I appreciate that very much. They do have twelve points to them. Will go to sears site and order one or maybe i'll stop being so cheap and get a set of them. |

You're welcome. If you ever have to unbolt a CV joint from the tranny, you'll need the 8mm version of that tool. The other two that come in the set, you probably won't see them anywhere on your car. I've bought the cheaper sets of those - the one that are about 15 bucks at auto parts stores. But for those 50 buck sets, I think I'd get just the 12 and 8mm ones instead.
