I just pulled my fuel pump on my 72. When I checked the pump by hand it worked fine. I went and bought a new rod and it is about a half inch longer then the old one. Can the rod be that much shorter and still run the pump. Or did I get the wrong rod.

| Look at the underside of your fuel pump, if the fuel pump lever is about 1/8" up inside of the pump you need the long one, if the lever hangs below the bottom of the fuel pump you use the short one. |

I called the VW parts store back and they told me that thats the only rod they sell for a 72 bus. He also said that the rod should be 139.8 mm long.
