I just bought a 74 with a strong engine but some wierd stuff added by previous owners...like for example, I have two ignition switches...yep, but the switch stays in the original box and a new key switch was installed below it and then...duct taped to the box...yep, a real ugly fix but it does work....so, rather than have this look like something out of frankenstien, I want to go back to the right set up and have it look nice...the problem is that if the key in the old switch is turned, the wheel locks up...so, don't touch it, obviously the ignition switch in the box died at some point and so the nut in charge just added a new switch...do I have to pull the steering wheel to put a new box or switch in place?, etc...thanks

It would, of course, be cleanest to replace the original switch and rewire it. This may help you visualize:

The Bentley manual has detailed instructions on how to remove your ignition switch and how to deal with the steering wheel lock.
