| Just passing along an interesting tip for cheap setup of VDO gauges and sending units. I spend a lot of time around air and H2O vw's. The gauges and sending units from rabbit gti and cabriolet will fit type 4 style motors. I recentley purchased a 77 westy with no gauges. Well walking through the junk yard I stopped and picked up a oil temp gauge, oi pressure gauge, and a volt meter, with the sending units for $20 bucks out of a late 80's Cabriolet. figured I'd throw this out there for anybody looking for gauges at a cheap price. They usually come in bar readings on the pressure gauge and celcius on the temp gauge. The ones out of a cab come in a "three pack" in the center.The only real work is drilling and tapping the oil plate on sump right rear on type 4 and running the wires.Good luck! |
