| Does anyone know where to find a windshield for a bay? Are they available at windshield glass suppliers such as Harmon glass? |

| Call your local glass installers and ask. Most can probably get one in. They are a pain to put in and like to crack so I went with an installer. It's only more expensive until you break one trying to put it in yourself. The side/rear windows are a snap to put in yourself. |

| Yes, your local glass installer can still get them and they are fairly inexpensive compared to those for late-model cars. |

Most of the ones I put in lately were "PPG" made so you could look for info on the web, or in the local phone directory. I think I paid about 120 but I picked them up installed myself...
the trick/tip in installing curved glass like the bus and superbeetle and type 3 is to put it in "top to bottom" and there is less stress on the glass.
if you do it the opposite then all the stress ends up in the upper corners and you stand a very good chance of breaking the glass. Once I figured that out I have not broken any, even gotten used glass to go in that way... which is harder if there is any weak spot... CRACK!!!!! oh shit!~ ;( |
