Hi;
I'm considering buying a 77 camper. Is there anything particularly bad about these later buses? I vaguely remember something about the late transaxle being expensive/troublesome?

Well it depends on what you consider expensive. You can get a rebuilt 091 tranny from Rancho Performance for about $550. These later trannies also have the taller gear ratio better suited to highway travel. I havnt ever heard of them being troublesome. I have a '78 Westy and can easily cruise at 65-70 but usually keep it to 60-65 to be easier on the engine.
