I have a 76 bus with a duel port 1800. I have no power and she tops at 55, any hill is a challange. I have tried to set-up the solex 34's but I am stumped when it comes to sync'ing the little beasts. I have the sync tool but what puzzles me is WHAT, DO I ADJUST to sync the carbs? There are screws and an adjustable throttle link and I am lost.
Second, as I stated in the subject line, from mid to high RPM's I feel the carbs sucking and puffing, and they can also spit fuel. I have the valves adjusted and the .009 timed to approximately 28 deg. The strob is steady through acceleration, so I can assume that the distributor is fine.
I still enjoy driving my bus, but the enjoyment would be greater with power and a little more speed.
Signed, wishing in Washington |

Maybe this tuning guide may help out in the adjustment of the carbs:
