Winter coming on downunder & trying to sort out the heaters on my old bus.
The cables that run from the dash all the way down to the flap valve off the heater exchanges are not operating. Guess the cables all all gunked up in the metal tubes they run in ( they don't seem broken ).
Anyone know the best way to free them up or if necessary the easiest way to replace them?
Thanks
Terry. |

First, get under the bus and see how much slack there is in the cable. If you can't eliminate the slack and the cables are indeed broken...
There is a barrel nut at the flapper boxes you have to disconnect then pulle them through from the front. Take off the pan underneath the cab and the kick panels to gain access. I haven't done it but I would remove the metal part of the dash closest to the windshield to be able to reach the heater levers. There are 6 bolts with 10mm heads: 1 at each end, 2 for the passenger grab handle, 1 behind the instrument cluster and 1 holding the red/blue lever bracket to the dash.
Cables are cheap: go to GoWesty's catalog and find the cable that's right you your model year. Get them from your favorite vendor (hopefully GoWesty for making use of their fine catalog).

Thanks Ratwell
Will explore.
Don't have GoWesty here but will get some new cables.
