Hey guys...new the Samba!
I currently drive a 04 Mazda 3, and although I modify it, I wanted something I could get more hands on with to develop/learn new skills.
So along came a '73 Standard. Now this is my first VW of any kid. I know there were plenty of better candidates & years, but I wanted a project where I could do every aspect of a build (welding, body repair, paint, interior, suspension etc...) myself. So after a couple hundred bucks I had my beetle.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to grab any pictures of it out in the street. If anybody has lived in Vegas, you know you the community streets are tiny. So after maneuvering the Suburban and over sized trailer, it was a quick jump to the garage to keep from upsetting the neighbors.
But here are some pictures of when I got it in the garage.
Thanks for looking,
Stephen |

| Nice project, If you think about driving it around before you tear into it move the fuel filter out of the engine compartment. |

No need to do that. The filter is fine right where it is. |

Unfortunately due to the rust of the pan and lack of brakes...lol, I am jumping into the restoration. I have started some work. I will get those pictures up later.
But I appreciate you letting me know about the fuel filter. I have been trying to soak up as much info as I can over the last couple of weeks. |

Thanks.
I love that orange on your '70.
I plan on going a dark green. I haven't looked into VW greens, if any of the classic VDubs came in a hunter type green. If not I will most likely go with a type of british racing green. |

Haven't posted the progress in a while, but started taking it apart. So now the cars officially don't fit in the garage...LOL.
I got the fenders off, engine out, interior stripped, glass out, etc...
I haven't loaded the new pictures of some of the body sanded and primed (kinda just wanted to see how most of the metal was) and the glass removed. I will get those up soon.
