Paid 4.07 to fill up the Jetta yesterday. My prediction for gas is a national average of $6 a gallon by the end of 2009.
Even though the price sucks, it is kinda neat, my bus was a year old when the first Oil Shock hit, was around for the second one in the early 80s and now were heading right into another one. Although I think this oil shock is going to cause some serious changes because unless we suddenly find like 500 Billion Barrels of oil underneath us, in 10 years the roads are going to be quite different.
I for one am hoping for the day when cars can run off electric and for us with classic vehicles, we get gas the way we get kerosene now. Just one small pump tucked in the corner at the convenience store. |

| I just paid $4.25 for 87 octane. Something has to give, and we can't stop driving, so maybe we just won't eatas well. Maybe i'll switch to dial up and buy gas with the difference. |

Don't have time to work it out exactly but we're paying around the $11 per (US) gallon mark in the UK. Prices are going up by a penny or so a litre every week or two, or so it seems.
Some people are actually talking about giving up work because they are spending more on fuel getting to work than they are earning. How much would it suck if you got to work at 9.00 but you didn't start getting paid until nearly midday? |

Has any one tried Hypermiling http://www.hypermiling.com/index.html ?
I just heard about this on the radio--seems like it is a new craze and topic of water cooler discussions. Challenging your current driving habits for better mileage.
I myself get good mileage--my van sits in the driveway all week--haven't put gas in in in a month--It need a new tail pipe and I can't afford it  |
