Quote: Its actually a pretty good idea. Getting rid of the connector hose and porting the manifold to the compressor housing makes for very nice and smooth flow and no place for fuel to puddle or come out of suspension.

thats a good point...i just reckon we'll have to find out how well it all actually plays out when i mount up the kit and run it like hell haha. :D

Just make sure to get back to us, and let us know exactly how the install went, and if it performs well or not.

VwBuM71 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:05 pm

oh without question ill be back on here lettin y'all know how it goes. but i just dont think its gonna work to its full potential with the combo i got, and if it dosent then another motor with lower compression and a different cam will obvisouly have to be built.

miniman82 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:08 pm

Yeah, you never did post the C/R, did you? What is it currently?

VwBuM71 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:17 pm

c/r? what is my motor currenty? is that what your asking?

VwBuM71 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:19 pm

oh no crap, my compression ratio lol...sorry. its about 8 to 8.5 to 1....on 8lbs of boost the effective compression ratio should be around 13:1...a lil on the high side with i guess we'll see what happens

Bashr52 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:20 pm

Yah whats the compression on your motor currently? Do you know if you have thick walled 92's on that thing or the smaller slip in's?

VwBuM71 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:24 pm

c/r is 8.25:1....and i believe there the thick walled 92's with a c35 cam and mofoco 50 series heads. forged crank and rods.

miniman82 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:29 pm

I'd drop that by at least .75. FYI, I run 7.2:1 on my turbo 1915.

VwBuM71 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:30 pm

danggg how many pounds you runnin? and i know i should drop it...i got a feelin it aint gonna run to its potential n im gonna have to build a turbo motor lol

miniman82 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:48 pm

I'm currently at 10lbs, non intercooled. When I do get an intercooler, I'm shooting for 18lbs. You don't need a new engine, you just need to drop the C/R on the one you have. You should probably look into your deck height and head chambers, and see what you can do to lower it.

VwBuM71 Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:54 pm

nicee niceee, yeah maybe i will do that, aint gotta spend the money if it cheaper to just open mine up n drop the c/r.

It will run just fine, it just wont be able to run as high of boost without detonating.

For example, a motor with 8.5 - 1 compression may run up to 7 pounds of boost without detonating on pump gas.

That same motor with 7.5 - 1 compression may run up to 11 pounds of boost without detonating on pump gas.

They both run just fine but have different detonation threasholds.
The 8.5 motor will actually have more torque and pull harder.

Why would you say that?
As with anything, key is to know how to tune a motor.

I just received my original Dragster motor back for a "freshen up" after 6 years of racing abuse. Its beautiful inside. It leaked down 4% on the worst cylinder, bearings are fine, cam and lifters are perfect, and even the MAG case is fine.
This motor has a TON of runs on it and has pushed my LGK dragster to a 8.51 ET way back when exactly how it is now. NOTHING has been changed or done to it except the oil.
The motor has been in a Super Comp car and has gone as fast as 10.09 at 12 pounds of boost.
Guess what compression it has?????? 9.3 - 1

it aint gonna be my daily driver, im only runnin it at the track, MAYBE around town to locl shows and what not...so dependability is not a necessity here lol

Pardon my ignorance, but are you talking 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile?

LOL - 1/4 mile

I have gone 5.09 in the 1/8 mile with my current race car with a 2332 full race turbo motor but this was also done on a 1/4 mile track.

Just throwin my two cents, but I use 91 pump gas, 8.9 CR and running 7psi (blowthru) No pinging or detonation, runs awesome!. Plan on trying for more boost once I get the new trans in. Old 6v trans didnt last long enough to experiment

Best way to find out is to run it and just see what happens. Dont know till ya tried, right
