Sorry for my ignorance, but whats the point of the drop extensions? Do you have to use them to lower the rear?

Yes sir, they relocate the axle above the springplate, in turn, it lowers the rear. For me, It's was a faster way to lower than the old way.

Love that stance! Looks good, I gotta get to work on my 63. I think my 6 year old would love to help, he puts my tools in his little tool box all the time!

How sweet it is!!!! I finally got the title to my bug yesterday! She is offically mine. I have been doing little things here and there. The dash is done finally and all that is left is to get a new carb.

Old dash -

New dash -

I'm still undicided about the whole carb thing. I was just going to replace the stock carb with a re-pop but i might just go ahead and get the dual solex system. I will be rebuilding the motor soon to a 1776cc and the duals will go nice with it.

Opinions?

'64cal lookdub Mon Jul 21, 2008 5:58 pm

I'd toss some dual ICTs on it, gives you more power but won't sacrifice mileage either. 8)

Thanks for the idea, i read up on alot of small dual set-ups, and i think i will go with the CB ICT's. They seem to have the best linkage and filter set up.

Here are a few updated pic's of the bug with the new window rubber, roof rack and cleaned up a bit. (well, sort of cleaned up, it rained on her last night) Still need the chrome trim and bumpers...

teufeltito Thu Jul 24, 2008 2:15 am

sweet!

neonrick Fri Sep 05, 2008 1:15 pm

Just a little update, I just put a set of 155 - 85 - 15's up front and it rides much better, only rubbing is on a very hard U turn.

I also just put an order in for my bumpers, chrome trim, emblems, and a few odds and ends. It will all arive next week so i will be uploading some new pics next weekend.

I'm gonna spend this weekend cleaning out my 12X20 back yard shop so i can actually get to all my tools and maybe even pull the rust bucket into the shop and work on it. For the past year or so, it's turned into a storage shed, so it's time to take it back over and turn it into the man cave it once was.

Have a great weekend!

Rick

Lord have mercy! My shop was nasty!! My dad origanally built the shop back in the early 80's on a shoestring budget. So when i bought the house from him about 10 years ago, one of my first prioritys was to fix the shop because it was about to fall apart. We basically replaced everything but the concrete floor.

It's 12 X 20 and has enough space for me because all my cars are small but here lately, it's turned into a storage shed and crap has just been thrown around.

After 6 hours, one trailer full to the dump and 3 - 55 gal. garbage bags full, i can once again start using my shop for what it was intended for.

And my Amstaff "Akria" approves of it as well. :)
