Here is the deal . I have a decent 914 with carbs . I shelled out pretty good money to a shop to get this car tuned and tuned right . I took it in for an emission . It wouldnt pass . I took it back to the shop and the guy wants another 150.00 to do what he should have done the first time . Anyway I passed and brought my car home . For Gods sake this is a 914 . a decent VW mechanic could get it going . This isnt a twin turbo 911 . I just need a guy who can hook it up to a machine and adjust these carbs so I can drive this damn car . Also someone that is honest . Maybe this doesnt exist . Thanks . Let me know .

Did you trade the 912 for a 914??

If your not willing to drive or pay what do you expect.

Try NuVintage 303 422-4237 Jay is the owner, Eddie is the mechanic both are good guys or Eurosport Automotive 303 423-3715 is another good shop that charges for good work. Wright German motors is next door to Euorsport and also has a good rep. All three are in Arvada within a mile of each other.

You might find that in order to pass you will need to lean the carbs out and change back for performance.

If you are not aware with vintage tags you only have to pass once as long as you keep the tags there are no further tests required.

Good luck with your 9?? and your welcome.

Eddie seems like a great guy but he is not doing this kind of work right now . Eurosport is a little pricey for me . So Is Wrights . Thanks , I just need a simple mechanic . Any help would be obliged .

A “simple mechanic” is not going to have the proper equipment/analyzers and possibly skills to set your car up to pass emissions. You will ultimately spend more in time and money going the cheap route not to mention the fact that you will not be enjoying your ride.

You might try asking around in the Local Porsche club to see how others are setting up/tuning their carbs (same as yours) and advance setting etc. for the Denver altitude and emissions. Who knows you might find a local fellow enthusiast who would provide a hand for free.

Hey whats up I can probably do a simple tune up for you. If it is beyond that you might need someone with a lift.

If you're looking to pay for it then you should take it to True Blue Imports in Aurora.

Who did you take it to the first time??

Louis,
Try Pat Moyle. The name of his shop is MotorSport Inc. He is located at 1921 A West Yale Avenue, Englewood, Colorado 80110. The phone number is 303.922.3560. You might want to leave your attitude at the door. If you can do that you will find one of the nicest, most helpful guys in the Porsche world. He even likes 914s!
