Just a quick thought: I am from Ann Arbor and have been desperately searching for shows near me to attend, and got excited about this show when I read about it. I am not interested in the racing at all, but the prospect of the swap meet and free camping sounded awesome.
Now the bad news. Seeing that the entry fee is 12$, I don't think I'm going to make the trip. That's almost 25$ just to get in the gates for me and the sig. other. I used to go to the Milan show every year until the entry fee got to be ridiculous. Any chance that that fee might come down, or be lessened for those who aren't interested in the racing?

Bren Sat May 03, 2008 8:43 am

I guess I don't see the fee as ridiculous.
I look at it this way. Milan is gone. There are very few shows and swap meets in our part of the country. The good people at Martin have created a new event just for us VW people. I feel we are very fortunate to have this event. The facility is fantastic; very modern, clean and well laid out.
Last year, being the first time for the Bug Run there was an excellent turn out for the swap meet. Both vendors of new and used parts.
The money you will spend on admission is not much more than you will pay to have parts shipped to you.
Lastly, part of having a classic car is getting around others with similiar interests. So, get in your VW and come on over. I'll bet you will be glad you did.

I agree, For the type of event this is thats not a bad entry fee. The racetrack itself is putting on the event. Its not a sponsored show and Im very gratefull they are.

This Saturday!
Come on out. It is well worth every penny!

Bren Tue May 13, 2008 2:01 pm

I was dissapointed in the amount of show cars and racers also the fact that no new parts vendors showed up. But when Bren and I were trying to recruit vendors alot of them had told us that the fall event worked better for them. Then our forecast called for rain all week plus some people had said it was raining when they left their houses so they left their cars at home. There were some factors in the poor turnout but it was still fun and I hope it grows. The ECPRA is coming in the fall to run their pro stock Bugs so that will help. Yes Mikes split is pretty sick I have his Trophy since he wasnt able to stay.

Bren Sun May 18, 2008 8:09 pm

And how much is it going to cost him to get that trophy Dustin?

Beautiful car Mike! I really like the wheels and the mirrors. Nice touch.

Volkswagenaholic Mon May 19, 2008 2:20 pm

Its going to cost him the keys to his car haha j/k I would like a ride though.

InDaWeeds Wed May 21, 2008 5:19 am

Keys to my car, no sorry! ...ride in it sure. Thanks for getting my trophy for me. I appologise again for having to leave before the presentation.

Thanks to all those who showed interest in my 52. Its been a long and costly affair but shes worth it. If any one wants more info on the car please email me at burns1432@hotmail.com
