Ok- 76 Westy with 78/79 type 4 engine (2000cc)
I just replaced my Monza style 4 tip exhaust with stock crossover pipe and muffler. Now I hear a popping sound coming from the carb. It sounds almost like popcorn being popped. It doesn't do it at idle, but when I rev it up to 2000-2500 it starts popping.
I do have seal leaks between heat exchanger and crossover pipe. Once it cools, I'll pull apart and put some high temp RTV (although I am using the stock metal gasket and not the asbestos ones).
What's causing the pop? It (the engine)worked fine yeterday before I changed the exhaust.
I also pulled the air filter and looked down into my Weber progressive carb and the two plates are straight up and down- if that means anything.
I just pulled the exhaust back off- and it still does the popping noise. |
