if the front tires are bald on the outside, does that mean i've got a bad alignment and if so, i just read in the how to book to take two three foot sticks and do the measuring with that @ 3oclock and 9oclock...problem is stuff is in the way to measure at 3 and 9. any suggestions?

Center wear means overinflation, outerwear on both ends means underinflation other wise you have an alignment problem.

If your bus isn't trying to steering you into the ditch or the other lane (toe) you have a problem with camber that is causing the wear. Adjustment is not difficult but you need fine instrumentation to be able to measure the angle in minutes (60 minutes in one degree). Your protractor won't suffice.
