| I gust installed a petronics ignitor on my 78bus. It is running but it seemed to run better with the points...I had it timed perfectly with points, 7.5BTDC at 875rpm. I cannot seem to get it there with the ignitor. It is ideling at about 1000 at 7.5BTDC. My bus has FI and Vac advance dist. I have the iginitor for vac advance. If anyone has any experience...I would appreciate any advice... |

What dwell do you get?
After installing the pertronix 1847V on a stock FI bus you need to adjust the timing. I think the timing was retarded and I advanced it back to 7.5 BTDC. Then I reset the idle.
Take off the distributor cap and see how well the magnet lines up with the pickup. |

| I didn't check the dwell. I adjusted the timing to 7.5 but I could not get the idle down to around 875rpm. I will check the magnet. I remember not being able to get the pickup as close to the magnet as I wanted. it seemed that the little plastic feeler that the thing came with was a little to loose. Should the pickup line up evenly all around the magnet. |

The dwell should be around 54 degrees. IIRC the instructions said to get the magnet to line up with the pickup. This might be using the spacer provided (I didn't need it) or pushing the magnet further down on the shaft.
The gap doesn't matter. Of course, nothing should be touching. |
