I have a 71 bus with a 74 bug motor. There was an aftermarket cooler on the dog house. I bought a cooler/fan combo. Any ideas on the best location?

I've never seen a pretty installation of an external cooler on a bus so I'd like to know also. Quite often I've seen it bolted under the vent window on the driver's side with the hoses going through the body. Some of the passive units have had intake scoops (woohoo), others have not (doh).

The unit with the fan must have been meant for the underside of the bus. I'd give Bus Boys a call and ask Walter what his recommendations would be.

there are a few interesting articles on http://www.type2.con in the library section... Bob Hoover's in particular are a good read.

There is a late model bus around town I've seen that is rigged with the external cooler bolted to a bracket that is welded on the roof just above the rear hatch, (not engine hatch). Looks like a clean job. He has the lines running down through the side vents which have a modified scoop fitted to both vents to catch additional air. I'd be interested in finding how hot/cool he's running and what he's got under the hood.

That'd be http://www.type2.com , you generally wanna stay away from those damn dot con sites, they're all based in Nigeria, and they'll want to have an associate pay $75 to you to include in your payment for a $3 part! lol Jeremy
