I've got a 71 bus with a 38amp DC Generator, for those of you also without an alternator. I do alot of dry camping and I am trying to get more out of my aux battery, I need more POWER! One idea is to convert my generator to an alternator, a bigger one. Anyone done this? I would like to replace it with something more like a 90amp alternator, what would fit? Ive had a couple buddies tell me that a new Golf alternator would also fit, they have 120amp alternators.
Also, for any electrical guru's out there...
How much charge do you figure you get through to your batteries. Ive got, like I mentioned, a 38amp DC Generator that goes through an isolator and then to my two batteries. If I run an hour would I get 19amps in each battery? Would their be some sort of loss of amperage across the lines? |

| I know that someone has done this before. At least I hope for some input on this before I start to rip out the old generator. |
