thanks. i got it home today, and am almost ready to put it back on the pan. just a mild 1641dp, 4 inch beam, 2 outer notches down in back, cms polished aluminum wheels (135s on 3.5s and 165s on 5.5s), all the chrome trim and bumpers/over-riders, and guards.
the fenders, hood, and deck lid are ready to final sand and paint. i will probably do the hood first, then the fenders. hopefully i can finish up the painting in the next couple of weeks.
i am thinking about an ivory or real light tan interior, kind of stitched up in the vw pattern, but using wool or mohair.
hope to drive it in a month or so, but it will still be a few months before everything is done.
here is a pic of the pan and engine from a month or so ago. i have made some more progress on it. but don't have a newer picture.

i am making a little progress. body is back on the pan, hood is painted, buffed, installed, and latched. door handles and chrome molding are installed, dash is back together, gas tank is painted. windshield is back in.
i did the undersides of the fenders friday, and will try to get the outside paint on them soon. everything seems to take longer and cost more than you plan!

it is lookin kinda like a car! fenders are painted, buffed, and back on, bumpers, headlights, and running boards are back on. i squirted the decklid yesterday evening. still need to paint the taillights and tag light, and i got a sweet 62 NC tag at an antique mall.
sorry for the crappy pic. it is a little dark outside, and they didn't look any better with or without the flash. the steering column is out and in pieces, so it is getting pretty hard to shift around and roll outside! i will attack it next and get it back in, then it ought to be pretty close to rolling down the road for a maiden voyage!

You've got great taste! I've always loved black bugs with slightly lowered front ends w/145 or 135's, stock bumpers and trim and centerlines!
Your car looks great! |
