Brother Ron and Me attended a marriage of a thing body and frame. In attendance was the dodge brothers trucks the marriage was great. I will show pictures of the reception and the build of the thing in a couple of days when we finish the car. The domeck brothers saved another one again. Ron will be taking the thing to Arizona for the honeymoon next weekend. So if anyone needs parts from the thing shop and are going to be at the run Ron is having in july contack him before the weekend.

What a beautiful ceremony!
I had yanked the engine to replace the dual Webers with a single (sticking with the duals) and take care of some cleanup. Finished the 2x44IDF overhauls (floats were way off and bowls were filthy), scrubbed the engine compartment, tin and assorted bits, installed new compartment seals, painted the tin, adjusted the valves (as much as ~0.011!?!), and started putting it back together. Also worked on the dog house where the PO installed a 7-plate cooler, but just hacked at the doghouse to get it to fit.. Should be stuffing the engine some evening this week. Pictures will follow. |

| Took my Thing out for a drive! It ran decently enough around the neighborhood, so we decided to break it in by driving to the Sonic drive-in for shakes. (It's a 20+ year tradition with our new cars) A fun time, but a poor drive. The carbs still aren't right. Over 25 mph is awful. Back to the garage for now. |

Rebuilt the front end. Found that the eccentric nut on the passenger side is worn well past being safe. Contacted Michael at Thingparts.com and he came to my rescue. The passenger side is still in pieces, but the nut is on the way.

| Well, I found my Cam card the other day and realized I was supposed to be running .004" on my valves... NOT .006... SOOO... Tonight after my sons Ballgame(won 10-2!!) I got the valves adjusted to .004, and topped off the brake reservoir in prep for CYW tomorrow! |

I spent an hour on the side of the road enroute to CYW this afternoon with my Son.....
Loss of power sent me to a parking lot on the way. Sitting a couple minutes letting it cool and another mile down the road and lost power again.
Called some of my Dub fam at CYW and they showed up with a tow dolly and got me to the show(didn't register).
Wondering if the .004 is too tight???
Made it 3/4 of the way home, then noticed the Oil Press down at about 30psi(cruising is normally 50+)... Stopped off at IHOP and let her cool, while we ate supper.
Rest of the trip home was smooth, although she's still running HOT. |

gi joe i have been running .004 thou. for 2 years on a engle 100 without any problems , 8500 miles so for. I did a check on the valves this week end, 1 and 2 was still 004, 3 and 4 was .006 I reset 3 and 4 to .004 and drove it, It still runs fine. you say it is running hot how hot? i will be driving it to a vintage drag race next weekend with 3 adults and 2 kids pulling a small trailer. About 150 mils round trip, I will see how it goes then. Dennis
