So after having the Dakota A/T tires for almost two years now, how are they holding up AZ-BUG?

I'm in the process of building my own baja and want to use a rear seat also. how does that jeep seat work out? does the back fold down for storage? I like the way it looks and would like to borrow that idea. What type of jeep is it from? thanks for your info. again nice baja.

I hadn't seen these questions on this thread... sorry about that! Seat is from a 2005 Jeep. Works well for kids, not enough headroom or legroom for adults. The back does fold down, makes it really easy to get a cooler in the back! Thanks for the nice comments about the car.

Yes, they are 1" wider than stock, and I believe it is all positive off-set. I will measure vs a stock wheel and let you know. These are the 5.5" after market steelies.

So far I've put 1600 miles on them, I'd say about 400 have been off-road. The front tires look new. The rear tires are showing wear, the compound seems to be on the soft side. Traction is better than i expected... actually pretty good. The terrain around here is pretty rough, so I am not too surprised with the wear... I'll post some pics tomorrow. If I would have paid big $$$ I might be upset with the wear, however at about $70 each and the 4th free I really have no complaints.

Any updates on this?

AZ-BUG Wed Nov 24, 2010 10:01 pm

Here go some updates:

I've done a little work on it... steering was getting sloppy so I rebuilt the steering box and adjusted. I also bought some new ball joints (Febi Bilsteins) and installed them. No pic of the ball joints, however nice pic of the Febi Bilstein cutie I bought them from!

before

all cleaned up

all greased up

and the Febi Bilstein cutie

Steering is now nice and tight!

Have Been on several trips (camera along for the ride on a few).

Coke Ovens, Florence AZ

got a flat... too lazy to use a jack!

Martinez Canyon, AZ

Saguaro Lake night run (stopping so Mr. Tarantula could cross the wash)

Four Peaks

Installed a Zenith Carb, built my own linkage.

And finally, hanging out with the younger generation

I still need to finish the interior (sound deadening and carpet), as well as install some speakers (head unit and amp already wired). Finally, needs a little body work and some paint. In the mean time, lots of fun to drive!

nice baja i like the original look

AZ-BUG Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:32 pm

Just a quick update, nothing major... got some 2nd hand Rivieras for it, I kinda like the look. Also finally got the correct dizzy for the carb I had (30PICT1 and 205T), passed emissions and runs smooth. One day I will tinker with the Zenith and get it running correctly... wanted to drive it, not work on it for now!

Glad to hear! We need to get together when it cools down. You on the east or west side? The west side AzBaja.com group is meeting @ 8pm on July 15th.

AZ-BUG Sun Jul 03, 2011 11:38 am

Thanks... I'm in the east valley. Summer time night runs up Four Peaks are really nice... if you hit it right after a Monsoon storm there's no dust and it's in the 50-60's up top! I will probably plan something in the next few weeks... will let you know.

Where does the AZBaja group meet?

biblethumpncop Sun Jul 03, 2011 12:50 pm

Go to AZBAJA.com and look. They have both east and west valley meetings at different Sonics. Register!
