Personally I don't have a problem with cops as long as they play by the rules. It's when they don't I start to have a problem. Like when my mates and I where doing a bit of drifting on my mates fathers establishments car-park, with his permission, and the cops gave us a ticket for reckless driving on public roads. :D
If a cop pulls me over and asks me to step out of my car, I politely do so and I lock the door behind me. If he likes to have a look inside my car I park my arse on the hood and wait for a warrant, simple as that. If he forces me to comply to an illegal search, I know a good lawyer to jam a illegal search claim up his arse. |

You live in Finland......
Much different place than Southern California. We probably have more Law books of stupid laws than you have books in your national library.. Politians trip over themselves trying to make laws just to make thenselves famous.... For all the talk about how free the USA is, there is a law against everything in California. |

My wife is a 911 dibatcher in the county for the state of Washington, and the cops have the computers in there car's for reasons, and some times it's the diffrence between life and death.
I was driving my Ghia threw town the other night at about 12 am and my wife was at work, I had a sheriff get right up on me, I have a mirged header and a stinger with ported and polished .044 CB heads, so it is on the louder side, but he had better things to do and turned off top get on the freeway. So I talked to my wife on her lunch and told her what happened, and all she said he said to her after he found out she was my wife was, what was up with my muffler...... Guess my point is, they have better shit to do then mess with people who arnt breaking the law. If I get pulled over for breaking the law, then I expect the cop will tear my car apart, but I also don't drive like a dick. |

FO-SHO! Bottom line law or no law a cop is going to do whatever they want, and they will get away with it. If they want to search your car, they are going to search your car. Try proving that they didn't have a valid reason. If you bother fighting it you are going to lose 90% of the time, and the other 10% of the time you will spend more money then the original ticket was in the first place just to prove a point! That is just the way it is.

This was well AFTER the fact, he had no idea who I was, and I know that the cops don't care who you are here, you are treated like every one else. If you don't understand what I said EdW let me rephase it. About 2 hr's later my wife was on lunch, she called me, I said hey " A shariff got on me when I went threw town" she said Oh, I'll ask the guy's if they remember your car. So when she went on break later that night, she said that he was on my ass because he had places to be, all he wondered about was my muffler, since I am the only VW in this town that run's a stinger he had never seen one before. So I asked, "oh he was not up on me because he saw some thing wrong?" she said no, he just had a some thing to do. So I guess it was not unfair and un-biased, perhaps reading a post and not taking it out of contex to put down what you think is a "n00b", would be a good place to start a reply next time. | I ride a sport bike to a bike night here in So Cal and it is atleast 1000+ bikes. All rides get toghether with no attitudes to have a burger and a coke and talk shop but everytime the cops roll by every week to break it up and say we are loittering when actually we are paying customers for the restaurants. My buddy who rides a bike also says honestly with all the B.S. he has to put up with being a law officer is not even worth it anymore so I guess thats why he is going into teaching. |

This statement very vague and completely untrue!
These people weren't ticketed for performance modifications, they were ticketed for ILLEGAL performance modifications. You don't have to be driving for that to be against the law. When you register a car, you are agreeing that the car will abide by the laws of the state. When it is modified so that it no longer meets state codes, it is illegal. The ability to have a vehicle licensed to operate on the highway is a privilege, not a right. What is wrong with them ticketing the cars that do not meet state code? If a headlight is out, it is an equipment violation and they can ticket you. If an intake or exhaust system is modified, it is an equipment violation and you can be ticketed. No one was ticketed for gathering. They were ticketed for illegal modifications.
You can spend several hours reading here, but beware, you might actually learn something.
To me, one of the funniest things of this whole "report" is the extremely balanced view that thenewspaper.com presents. (In case you missed it, there is a ton of sarcasm in that statement). Has anyone done any searching to find a report from a reputable news source that isn't biased? Here's one:
http://www.pe.com/localnews/riverside/stories/PE_News_Local_R_streetrace01.4234d9b.html
Here are a couple of quotes from it:
Quote: Neighboring business managers at Hooters Restaurant and John's Incredible Pizza are glad the problem was addressed. At times, they said, cars speed through their parking lots, threatening the safety of others and scaring away customers.
Quote: John Ferrier got a "fix-it ticket," he said, because his car's exhaust system was too noisy. And yet the 21-year-old Moreno Valley resident said he was happy the police were cracking down on Honda drivers. He blames them for reckless maneuvers such as "burning out" and "doing doughnuts."
"That's what attracted the police attention," Ferrier said. "I'm glad they're here to stop people before they do something stupid."
It seems that "thenewspaper.com" knows how to push buttons and got a lot of them pushed here. Do a search and find out how many of the reports of this incident do NOT lead back to thenewspaper.com. You'll find very few.

Terry, if that is registered, it is registered as a golfcart. That limits it to streets with speed limits of 35MPH and lower only.
Back in the Day we had many wierd cars on the streets of So Cal , but those days are long gone. Now they expect you to conform.... Too bad for inovation... |
