Does anyone know where I can get some replacement captive nuts - the ones that are welded into the inside of the roof where the back of the raptop bolts onto?
Thanks in advance. |

Huh? I thought captive nuts for the rear sunroof tensioner were used only on 1950-56 cars. #-o |

if you're into making some like mine, I think I have enough of the sheet metal shapes that I had sheared out left over, have 'em if you pay the postage.
they really weren't that hard, just used a pair of vise grips and a hammer to bend into the box shape. drilled and tapped a pc of flat bar M5x.8 and cut/ground them square.
I've been trying to register with the site your thread is on for a while now and I think i've been black listed  won't send me an activation.
i'd like to post there on your build............hook me up with the mod if you could  |

Ive been looking for some myself and have PMed a few people "in the know" and had no luck finding any. I also have started making my own using some flat bar drilled and tapped then cut to the original standards.
Besides the rear ones I have to replace a few of the captive nut that hold the rails on  and have to cut into the frame to do so. Im not looking forward to that. |

Just thought id update this post.
After getting these hand made for Denz's 55 rag resto ive decided to go ahead and make these in batches being lazer cut and pressed to shape.
Their made of 1.2mm mild steel with an M5 square zinc nut and freely move the length of the cage for full adjustment as per the OG ones. only difference is OG captive nuts weremade from thinner metal (0.8-1.0mm)
These are for 50-55 ragtop bug rear tensioner strip but are also the same as sunroof/samba busses 50-67 rear tension and side captive nuts under the sunroof rails and 2 fold rag bugs under the sunroof rails too.
