I think you are experiencing a cultural difference between the US and the Philippines. Here people are less inclined to be polite or "correct" and more inclined to speak their true thoughts. So if you ask for comments you will get both positive and negative ones. I personally think it is better to know what people are really thinking, than it is to hear nice polite comments that are not true.

I agree with your, 79SuperVert, this is a so-called "Cultural diferrences." This is called constructive critism, one has to open his eyes to comments and have a teachable heart to learn the lessons well.

Onyok, buddy, don't take it too personal, the comments here are your guide to the future of your vee-dubbing life!

As the saying goes, "man learns from his victory, much more from his defeat!"

I've got one that I bought new in 1974. If it wasn't covered in 20 years of dust I'd show a current picture, but anyone who doesn't think these things are cool does not have a sense of humor

Why pretend to be something you're obviously not?

being different is not pretending. You're not being different you're copying a rolls royce. So technically you're a wanna be.

if im really a wanna bee i should've bought the emblem =. and the title of this thread is rolls royce beetle. use glasses there's a word called ''beetle'' there. if im a wanna be i should have used rolls royce color paterns.

This is a world site and VW is a world thing. It doesn't matter what country, your ride still belongs here. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=149769 as well as several other Samba Members rides from around the world. Some of them are very proud of their custom V-Dubs.

Welcome Newbie....

I don't see it as a wannabe. I see it as hideous.

I wouldn't have done it quite that way but to each his own, if the OP likes it that's great, it's his car his choice. I'm more of a keep it stock guy myself.

However...

Back in the late 70s or so Popular Mechanics ran an article about interesting things you could do with a VW. One was a very nicely done Beetle pickup (would that be a Bugameno? <G>). The other one was REALLY cool, they put one of those 35 Ford front ends on a convertible, and put wood over the doors, rear sides and on the fiberglass rear that went with the new front end.

They also had a VW Woody wagon, with the Ford front end and a woody station wagon body, it was the COOLEST little woody you ever saw.

Just did some googling and what do you know, there are people out there with those things. Now THAT would be a cool project.

Those woody kits are awesome. Once the lease on my current place is up and I can move somewhere with space I want to build one of those. I think they would look great with the roof chopped down a bit just to bring everything into proportion.

Huh! Great suggestion!

And cheaper to convert using that grills, after all, it a Benz and not a rolls!

LOL

I think someone should now take the Chrysler 300 grill and make it look like a Bentley.... ROFL. That's what Chrysler did! ROFL

i'd like to see a rolls beetle slammed right down on a narrow beam with some serious camber out back, somehow i can kinda see it almost looking cool that way

ME TO!
Then as an adult I bought the kit again.
If you build models than you know that this kit was a crappy build then,
and even crappier now because the molds are not maintained at all.
The parts are covered with flash, and the engine deck lid is too warped to even use.
I've never seen a '68 with a rollback & 5 lugs, but that is the way I built it.
