In a pervious Thing that I owned, it had a glove box door and a face plate for a radio. I can't seem to find one anywhere.

Got any ideas where I cn get one?

A "real" OE Factory glove box door is an actual part. It was not used in German but rather in Mexico, Indonesia and other resort area where the thing was/is used as Tourist transport. It is a rare part with original part number: 181 857 121 The door requires a pair of rare hinges and an equally rare original SC pattern key. I have two complete assemblies (one used the actual key to my first car a 61 almond vert. I have one for each Thing. I also have a good supply of extra latches with keys

There was a really cool home made one in the gallery a while back. The guy did an awesome job on it and even posted pics of how he made it.

I think since those pictures were taken he has installed a new radio with a CD player.

This is the thing shop version installed

If I was going to do it over again I would eliminate the head unit and run the Ipod from the amps into a single volume control. I dont listen to the radio and I now like the look of the original utilitarian stock dash better. If I was going to mount a radio or needed to stash my whatevahs I would build a little compartment like the one in the photo .

Bt the way the thing shop dash in no way was a bolt on. I spent 2 hours slotting holes on pads and box to get it to look right than I used a little Rubber bumper to get it sit against the dash right and not lean in at the top.
Don't forget matching paint is another cost factor and PITA.
