We met this crew of intrepid V.W. enthusiasts at Boyd hill in Saint Pete today and they asked me to take a group shot!
:bus_blue: :bus_green: :bus_orange: :bus_purple: :bus_red:
Some of the travelers are a tad sunburned and a couple of the buses were a little worse for the wear but they looked like they were still having fun :D :D
Wish y'all a safe trip home! |

UZI, nope no joke we loaded 7 VW campers onto the Amtrak Autotrain from FL back to DC and it was nice to let someone else drive for those 850~miles
there were a few scratch & dents incured on the train, unexpected, but the rail cars to shuck around alot.. just ask the inebriated senior citizens trying to walk from train car to train car.

this part is a joke, right? |

There and back again, VW Sunshine Treffen 2010

I’ve put up the Stevens’ collective 1200 images I finally pulled from mom’s & our cameras (for the Winter event) onto Smugmug
This is a 14day trial so the images are available to view & download in fullsize or smaller resolutions.
I’ll have to decide if I’m going to keep the service as smugmug is $5/month $40/yr, they are popup and advertiser free which is why I’ve never really used on online pic storage/sharing site. And there is no (zero) limitations to the file sizes or quantity.
For those who don’t know and those that do, the VW Sunshine Treffen was a trip of the Empire VW camping & VW Club of Central NY from NY (also Canada & NJ) to St Petersburg Florida and back in the Spring of 2010. A 2week roadtrip in classic VW campers following the Atlantic Coast from Assateague, MD to St Petersburg, FL and back..
With the intentions of travel, Adventure and to participate in the 200+ VW Cruise over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The route and days were not without difficulty, challenge, breakdowns. But after 17days and ~3,ooo miles all of the Sunshine Treffen travelers returned safely to their respective homes.
The trip was planned for 2years, and the story was published in the Sept 2010 Hot VWs and an issue of the Vintage Voice a publication of the Vintage VW Club of America.
In any event, here’s our collective images for the time being, save any that you would like.
I’ll be sorting thru the movies taken on the trip shortly.
