I have a 1965 356SC in need of a complete restoration, it's minus the engine, trans and axles, but is/was otherwise pretty complete.
I'm just about to tear into it (literally) and do a major conversion to an Outlaw. Some of my buddies have been saying that I ought to do it to a more random 356, maybe a B or simple C rather than an SC.
Even though the engine and trans is still with the seller, the car is complete, has all of the documentation going back to the first owner(s), and a current registration and title in my name, so it does have something of a "history" I guess.
Anyway, before I break out the torch and Sawz-All and set to work, anyone want this to restore and have a similar B or C to trade? Or isn't it worth the trouble. Just wanna be sure . . . |

Check out the values of 356 in the new Excellence. I agree keep it stock and enjoy the way it was meant to.
just my view.

That's the only reason that I would throw out such a seemingly insane "offer." I have a '55 that someone altered, badly, and I'm trying to bring back to, at least, an outward appearance of stock.
I want a nice sort of street Outlaw to drive pretty regularly, play around in, and not worry too much about. I got this '65 SC for a good price and thought that it was just PERFECT to do whatever I wanted to, but then found out that it came with all the past papers and was the last, best of the breed and all that and it seemed somehow wrong to just chop into it.
If nothing turns up close by and equal to, I'll dive right in, but I figured that it wouldn't hurt to make a trade offer before hand. I won't be doing anything to it 'til this weekend anyway, so that will be my dead line and it'll make me feel a little better for waiting.
You know? |
