I saw part of that on the news last night, how is it possible for that girl to disappear for 24 years and no one notice?

God Damn IDIOT!! Australia is nowhere close to Austria!!!!

I would have thought clicking on the link at it saying EUROPE- MSNBC would have helped you.

I can't believe they were legally allowed to register 3 children that were "found on their doorstep".

The 19 year old daughter/granddaughter was probably 'assisted' into the hospital by her mother/sister to save her from her father/grandfather.

That really is a crazy deal. I read it last night in my local paper.

A couple of those kids had "never seen the light of day" and one of them was 19 or some shit. the story went on to say obviously they were "pale".

Unbelievable. Some heads are gonna roll for that one.

And here I thought the typical Austrian family looked like this:

I didn't understand that either. Look what I found! Can I keep it?

no matter how much therapy those kids get they will never be normal.

More importantly how do you hide your daughter from your wife in the cellar for 24 years and she doesn't notice anything strange.....

My gut tells me she knew.

I agree, there is no way she didn't know. All of the babies crying downstairs? Random babies showing up on her doorstep? Husband going downstairs with food all the time? Come on...

Some deep denial there.

I agree man, all around, that has got to be one of the most f'd up stories I've ever heard. Sounds like the guy was pretty adamant about nobody going in the basement. Reinforced concrete, electronic entry system. The pre-meditation alone is just sick.

Sometimes it makes me happy that I don't stay up on the news.

I bought a nice Spyderco pocketknife yesterday.

People are fucked up.

I think it's the same family. Notice the action on the right side of the pic, and everybody standing around with their mouths hanging open, staring blankly into space.

How does one go about building a dungeon anyway, so no one knows about it?

Or does one just buy a house that already has a dungeon, like on Desperate Housewives show?

"look, wife, another abandoned child", wife must not be rocket scientist.

Try reading the story again.

Quote: Regarding the apartment building that Fritzl owned and lived in, the town’s authorities authorized the construction of an addition with a basement in 1978, city spokesman Hermann Gruber told the Austria Press Agency. He said inspectors examined the project in 1983 — the year before the young woman went missing — and nothing looked suspicious.
