| so i am a sales manager for a parts manufacturer and distributor. i get the crappy angry calls when these guys can't handle them. why do people start talking sh^&%t right off the bat when i offer to help after another salesman jacked up their order?!! im here to help and i never get stupid when im getting customer service from someone, even if im at my wits end! had to tell a customer it might be best if they never bought from us again! sometimes i wish all the attitude customers would roll through my neighborhood after informing me at around 12-3 am and i wish i could just jump them or for those sheltered, gangup on them and give them the business.!!!   any way if you have a idiot customer story please tell me im not alone. ps i hope all you who call companies to trash their sales force only cause you could not get your carpet 2 days before the show, cost people/ families jobs, or cause ill feeling at work all get yours......im out. |

| I sell industrial equipment mostly business to business, but we take some walk-ins also. If you don't work in sales or with the public, you got no clue how many truly fucked up people are out there. I got one little troll-looking motherfucker who comes into my office once a year. It's like clockwork...he stinks, he's dirty and he's seriously trollish. He pulls a laminated color copy of a page out of a catalog we must have had 20 years ago and asks me if we still carry a particular item. Every year it's a different page and a different item. I been there ten years and I don't think he's ever missed a year. I told my wife that if I ever come up missing... |

420GOAT, you are definitely not alone.
I work at a retail parts house and we get more than our share of idiots and assholes. We had one just the other day that we had to inform that we would like it if he took his business elsewhere. Then there are the ones that you want to tell straight up "put down the wrench, and back away slowly". Some people have no business even trying to fix a car. Peace brother! |

Idiots come in all shapes and sizes. It's part of any job... unless you're self employed. Well even then... I know I could get on my own nerves.

| I work in corrections. 99% of my "customers" are either a piece of crap, idiot or both. The other 1% are few and very far between. |

I also get a lot of guys coming in with the old "I'm looking for a caster about this big around (making a circle with their fingers) and a stem on it about this big (holding up a thumb or finger)" I mean, I realize material handling is not rocket science, but seriously...
I had a regular customer try the old "as big as my thumb" deal, so I grabbed his hand and put my calipers on his thumb. The fucked up thing was that it was almost exactly 3/4", which was what he was looking for. :( |

its still early spring and i've already told 2 customers to go fuck themselves. i've actually thought about starting a thread similar to this, sharing my experiences with the idiot public.
the problem is simple. people think they know more than me about the very thing i do for a living. they also view me as "the lawn boy" even though i surely earn more money than they do. then you have the people who feel the need to "negotiate" on things that have set prices. i usually ask if they try and negotiate when they go to the gas station or when there credit card bills come in the mail.
and my all time favorite is this..... (it goes back to the "lawn boy" thing)
i have a friend or relative who has a friend or relative who needs something landscape related done at their home. so my friend or relative calls me and says, heres my friends number, give him a call, he has work for you..... what are you fuckin kidding me???? i have a phone, i have business cards and i even have email and an answering machine. your friend wants something done? have him call me!!!! dont ask me to call them! HI THIS IS STEVE, CAN I PLEASE DO WORK AT YOUR HOUSE??? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!! I'LL SUCK YOUR DICK FOR YOU TOO IF YOU WANT. IM THE LAWN BOY AND I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX AND IM DESPERATE FOR MONEY!!!!
go fuck yourself.
if you needed a part for your vw, would you expect "gene berg" to give you a call? gimme a break. i own a company that does over a quarter million dollars a year annually. i've earned the right to tell "mr smith" to go fuck himself!!! and my good customers will tell you that im a total sweetheart!!! :) |
