| The 55 type 1 bug parks the arms and blades to the passenger side. If you are having them park to the drivers side you have installed a more modern motor. All wiper motors park to the direction the terminals point when mounted on the frame. Except oval motors. As the terminals point to the drivers side when mounted on the frame. I see it all the time. Been working on bugs all my life and just figured it out myself. As I restore wiper units. All early bugs parked to the passenger side untill 65. Then it parked to the drivers side. I go by all small window cars passenger side, and big window cars drivers side. The passenger arm is set at 11 o'clock the drivers side lays down flat. Don West the wiper guy |

so i have a later motor,is there a way to correct this?so they face the correct way and still work?
i thought the motor i used was early but i swaped the armature out with a 67 12v one.as no one seemed to have the armature in stock.

| Yes Russ You park the motor and remove the out put shaft and rotate it 180 degrees and reinstall it. Then it will park to the correct side(passenger) The drop in armatures will be back some day soon. But you cannot use them on the old oval SWF motors with the band brake for park. They have the screw terminals 3 of them + _ S You want to get the 56-57 oval motor with auto park and permant magnet. Pt#111-955-111-A It has 4 screw terminals and parks to the passenger side and can be converted to 12 volts. It has the out put shaft # 21.3 X All later motors went as 21.6X. Untill big window cars 65 on all have 21X. DL |
