| To anyone that can PLEASE HELP ME... I have an 86 gti, wit a 2.0 16V motor swap.. I have the buzzer going off indicating that the oil pressure is wronge wit the warning light. I was told that the switches were bad. replaced both of em.. then I was told the insturment cluster has a chip or something that could be faulty. so I replaced the insturment cluster also.. I still have the buzzing but I took the light out.. got on my nerves.. I put a oil pressure gauge on it to make sure its not the pump.. reading 45 at idle. and between 60 and 65 at 3 grand.. Wut do I have to do to fix the damn buzzer from going off.. any solutions??? I dont care about the funtion of the warning light just the noise has to stop.. sterio is getting worn out tryn to out noise the buzzer.. |

I'm gonna go out on a limb here: my guess is you're running 10w30 or 10w40 oil, and an aftermarket oil filter(probably an orange one  ). If I'm even remotely close, I think we may have found the problem.
It sounds hokey, but those cars are known to be finicky when it comes to the oil and filter you use - I've had 5 A2's, including 2 16v's, so I know it firsthand. Before you try anything expensive change your oil to 15w40 or 20w50, and install an OEM oil filter(by Mann, Mahle or Hengst). When the A2's were new cars, 15w40 was the standard 'shop' oil grade used for changes by the VW dealers.
My last 16v had about 240K on the clock. I used 15w40 oil in the winter and 20w50 in the summer, with strictly OE filters, and I never heard that buzzer in the 2-1/2 years I owned it. |

when does it go off... during high revs or when you let off? the pressure senders go bad on those... i think you can get both for under twenty bucks.
and in the summer you should definitly be running at least 20w50. |

Mine does the same thing. I read posts on other forum's and here that said the oil and the filter is what solves the problem.
Thanks to all the guys who respond.
