Movie was Bad-Ass!!! Was good to see Robert Downey Jr., make a comeback, if that's what you call it. I was skeptical at first, but he made the role.

Anybody else see it?

I didn't like it that much... :(

My son wants to go so I told him to save up his money. We'll probably go next week sometime.

We saw it Fri after school--it was a big surprise for the kids and they loved it! Great cast!!!

Had to put up with alot of security looking out for cameras and the lights were left on almost until the film ran. I was also surprized that a film that only started running the night before was sooooo scratched up!!!!!!!

Maybe it was a bootleg copy.

There were a lot of those weird black ellipses in the upper right corner too.

I thought it was OK. I expected more action. The kids liked it. They could have had a lot more action and a lot less tinkering to build the suits.

There was a trailer for the next "Incredible Hulk" movie, which looked awesome...but I thought the same thing going in to this one. The next Batman movie looks to be good too.

I actually had one of these bootleg fools walk up to me at a VW cruise night yesterday, selling DVDs of Iron Man.... Tell me, does that copy come with special features like people coughing and walking in front of the screen?

yup they sure do. when we in Kuwait some of our guys would go out to some of the bazaars and buy bootleg movies that haven't made it to the states yet. The quality was crap, but hey it was there money. Its was better than looking at camels.

Those black ellipses are supposed to be there unfortunately.

Did you stay till the end of the credits? There was a cameo trailer of the upcoming Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.E.I.L.D movie starring Samuel L. Jackson

I missed that! My kids don't have the patience for credits. I checked the Marvel site, but it isn't there yet.

The weird shapes are `cue marks`for the projectionists. I tells them to change to the next film reel. Not something used so much in the big multi-plex`with their automated projectors but older theaters still use them. There are two sets of cues (4 frames each) 8 secs apart then something like 6 frames after the last cue the projectionist switches to the second projector and then reloads and rewinds the film from the first projector--but I believe those reels hold 2 film reels per projector. They are always there and now you know!
Info from my projectionist husband.

He was really upset in the last Superman movie where they put the first change when Krypton explodes--if the projectionist (read snotty nose teenager these days) f*cks up the splice you missed the entirety of the explosion--we saw a skip instead-!

It is cool to see all these Stan Lee Marvel Comics come to the big screen. I spent many a days and nights reading them as a boy....

Just got back from seeing it.

Perfect casting, Robert Downy Jr. has always been a great actor, but this role was perfect for him. Can't wait for the sequel!

BadBeetle Sun May 04, 2008 4:16 pm

I saw it on Friday while on vacation in Traverse City and the movie was AWESOME but... The only theater that was playing it in the area SUCKED! (Old-School Movie Theater Seating.)

Iron man kicked ass, It stayed pretty true to the comics, Sam Jacksons cameo was a tie in that will be one of several to tie future movies in to a crossing over storyline like the comics. Iron man will make a cameo in the new Hulk movie to build toward The Avengers, Capitan America, Thor, Nick fury, and the Iron Man and Hulk sequels. Its possible that the story lines could intertwine with future Marvel comic movies as well.

Stan Lee as Hugh Hefner. :D

Going to see it tomorrow afternoon, and I'll report back.. Also, anyone gonna check out Speed Racer comin up?

dquattlebum Mon May 05, 2008 7:31 am

This by far was the best Marvel release... Robert Downey Jr was perfect for this movie... I thought it went a little quick but I just spent the last week sick at home watching all the LOTR and HP movies which were super long, so it was nice to see a quick action/comic book movie...

I stayed to the end of the credits, it is cool that they are going to incorporate other Marvel movies for the Avengers saga...

Incredible Hulk looks awesome... the 1st one was dog shit... I'm glad they're rebooting it...

I'll be going to see Speed Racer, it's supposed to be very family friendly but it will still be cool.

I'll wait til DVD. All the extras, cheaper, can pause for bathroom breaks, rewind to see bloopers, the popcorn is better and can be in our pyjamas!
:D
