| The best all around Honda was the SL 350 single enduro model! I have a friend that commutes on a 10 year old 250 twin full dresser he bought for $4000. |

I picked up a pair of 450s for $334 on eBay a couple years back. Both had been sitting for at least 10 years and needed alot of work.
One was a CL450 with around 8k original miles. I tore the top-end of the engine apart, rebuilt the carbs and replaced all the ignition components. It was a great first motorcycle, not to hard to work on, parts are available and they run great when they want to. It's a bike you have to tinker with, and i did that everytime I rode it, sometimes just to get home...
The other was a CB450 with around 23k miles, much rougher than the CL, so I chopped it up and made it into a bobber...
Still a work in progress and I've yet to ride it. Have a set of S12 pistons and a cylinder set that I had bored out to up the displacement, still need to get an electronic ignition and maybe Mikuni's

Any old Honda is a good bike. Some just take more work than others!
But the XS bikes from Yammy are sweeet! I liked the pic of the 650. Nice the way they are and easy to chop and bob as well.

Going through the ads at the grocery store saw a 1981 Honda CBX1000 6 cylinder with only 5 miles on it! $10k. I'd get it but there is only one and I want a his-and-hers set...

| Any CA riders out there? I had a CA 160 once upon a time. It was great putting around the town bike. I'd love to pick up a Dream someday. |

hey just throwing this out there, but my dad has a 83 CB 750 and hes been having trouble with the carbs and hes been shopping around for a shop to do the work and so far his quotes have been from $800 -$2000 which if insane for just rebuilding the carbs.
any one know of any socal shops that would be good for this? |

I have a '74 CB350F and love it! 7100 original miles and an engine that loves to rev. Great bike, I highly recommend it. I am looking for a luggage rack to fit it if anybody knows of one...

i think that the CB350's are the best overall ride of this family- so cheap for insurance and they still have the trace of british copycat style when stock and are sooo easy to make into a sharp cafe racer.
350 - 400 four are a fun ride but as mentioned before a bit pricey to be a daily driver ( the supersport models win best header pipes on a motorcycle - ever), the 550-750 four are excellent bikes but IMHO are gas piggies and a bit heavy for just gettin around .
this may spark another thread but i have always believed the CB350 to be the ride in "Zen and the Art .."
I also go by the '2 carbs better than 4 carbs' maxim. |

| The CB400F is arguably the best of the early-70s Hondas. |

I'll try to remember to get pics up, Got my first bike last summer, a 75 CB550. It needs some cleaning up and I have it on standby until I can sink money into it. It runs but needs the chain adjusted, brakes adjusted, the tires are 15 years old etc.
I picked up what I thought was a nice and clean and already gone through 78 cb750, converted to dual front disc breaks. Looks like it's leaking oil from the head, shortly after I bought it. It's a bit above my mechanical experience, they just don't teach shop in school anymore, so I'm trying to find the time to read up on pulling the engine. |
