I teach 2nd grade.
I have the most amazing class.

Ya, I'm hoping we can make Buses By the Bridge.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Take care

That bus looks so much better camping in Yosemite than sitting in the mother-in-laws driveway, huh? Looks like fun!

as a school janitor,i notice that elementary teachers are always nicer than middle or high school. but i did notice that kindergarten teachers clap alot more at meetings than any others, maybe from spending so much time with 5 year olds?

That might be the case, but my son recently had a kindergarten teacher that was more demanding than some of my old college professors

he learned alot though..

Will,
Second grade sounds like fun but I am sure harder than we think also sounds like you really enjoy it.

Bill,
I love this and sounds so accurate.

Listening to all the bus campouts makes me want to more back home to the west that much more.

I'm a middle school teacher, does that mean I'm not as nice as a 2nd grade teacher? :D

You've got that right :P

I teach sixth and I am mean, nasty and very ugly- at least at our grade level we try hard to make them think so...sarcasm rules.

I'm surprised how many of us VW Sambanista's are teachers or work in schools.

Please don't post anything about teachers having the summers off to work on our rides. Very few of us can afford to do that. We all work other jobs in summer.

I'm not a teacher, but would happily support a school tax increase if it would end up on your paychecks, or should I say on the paychecks of the ones that teach, rather than mark time. Your pay is a national disgrace. Your superintendents' pay is also a national disgrace for the directly opposite reason.

At the beginning of the school year, we found out that my son's elementary school could no longer afford to pay a librarian due to budget cuts. Thus, the library is now CLOSED for the school year. This is also a national disgrace and pisses me off so bad it hurts. All this while we send billions to Iraq per month.....

Iraq isn't the problem, we weren't paying teachers any better before Iraq, and we won't pay them any better after Iraq. It's a matter of misguided priorities. If we could pay teachers what we pay football coaches..........

Hubby Bus Fri Jan 09, 2009 11:31 pm

Hello everyone and happy new year!

I got my bus tuned up in October and it was running well.
But now it doesn't idle.
I can start it up and it will idle until I give it some gas.
Once I touch the pedal and let off, it wont idle anymore.
No matter how long I drive it.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

Thanks

Will

Hey Will, probably dirt in the carburetor or a malfunctioning misadjusted choke...

tasb Tue Jun 09, 2009 7:31 pm

Well its been a full year since "Hubby's Bus" was put back on the road. This thread was really happening twelve monhs ago. How about an update.

Hey Will :!: are you going to get the family and the bus to Blackstar/OCTO or what :?:

ngoma Tue Jun 09, 2009 8:38 pm

While we're waiting for the update, I thought I'd piggy back on the "bus drivers who are teachers" part of this thread. I'm also an elementary school teacher; music specialist, K-5. I drove the bus to work today, and the kids love it when they see it parked out there at recess. They never talk about the big old truck mirrors, odd colored bumpers, or any of the other things I haven't got around to fixing yet. Unconditional love!

When I leave work, most of the students point and laugh as they see me drive away.

My students like my bus, they do ask me to paint it to make it look better. :D

"Average teacher salaries. California had the nation's highest average salary in 2002-03, at $55,693. States joining California in the top tier were Michigan, at $54,020; Connecticut, at $53,962; New Jersey, at $53,872; and the District of Columbia, at $53,194."

$6k a month ain't too bad. They do have almost 3 months a year off too!
