Can I get a ruling on these seats?? 67 Beetle..Just wondering if you think they could be original or not....I'd be less likely to recover them if they're original...They're worn as if they've been there a while...
the inspection tags are still between the springs and cushion material...not that it means much... :)

| They for sure are not original. With your seat back release on the lower portion of the seat have you checked your vin # to see about when your 67 was made? |

D'oh #-o ! Oh, you meant what to replace those nasty ones currently on the seats with...
Well, I have some replacement black basketweave seatcovers I bought for my white car. I didnt use them because they dont have the heat pleats. Other than no heat pleats, they look spot on. The basket weave material even wraps over the top of the seat and slightly down the back like original (no seam at the top, like TMI). I have front seat backs and bottoms and rear seat bottom (I used the rear seatback on another car).
If you want them, send me a PM. |

See the lines in the seat? They are heat pleats - created with a hot straight edge pressed into the vinyl basketweave material.

The seatbelt housing should stow flush against the B pillar. There is a spring washer to provide friction so that it doesnt flop around. If it doesnt go all the way vertical, it's not installed correctly. Also, there are (or should be) plastic retaining clips anchored to the B pillar that the seatbelt housing grabs onto. To release, simply pull the housing slightly away from the B pillar and pivot the housing forward for use.

you saying there was no cloth in 67? or no replacement cloth material for 67's?
the tech section in the samba archives lists several cloth colors for 67. is that info incorrect or only for non US cars? whats the deal? granted i have never seen a OG cloth interiored 67. |

| I should have been more clear.... no cloth on US deluxes. Therefore, no cloth on Ocdbeetle's car originally. |

I may be continuing my display of ignorance for 67's but here goes...
the arrow points to the "receptacle" that accepts the 3 point hook...Its made onto the retractable seatbelt as if it was originally there...not added on...So........would that mean this particular set of 3 point seatbelts all came together...and would they have been offered in my particular car...? Or should I assume they were from a 68 or later?
