Just came across this thread as I was searching for some other info.

Just stumbled across your thread. I did a seven year resto on 6 245 xxx, a March '64, and I can sympathize with everything.

I'm sort of not sure if you took the body off or not.

Chassis number posted on page on starts 555. pretty sure that makes it a may 63.

JinxedSydney wrote: Hello all. I've been haunting around for about a year or so, hoping to find the "right" dub to call my own. Lo and behold, we found it in our hometown and it's sitting in the front driveway; 1963 Bug that was a daily driver until a couple of years ago.

Pretty much, it's original, aside from the new ignition that the person drilled into the dash near the ashtray because the original key is missing. The radio is missing and the inner glove box is too, but it is in remarkable condition.

My question for this post is this: during investigated on the Technical section for the chassis number, it is showing my number: 5745068 is under 1960. Is that correct?

I think you were looking at the pics posted by another member ( GWOL )... stating that his build was earlier. ( MAY '63 ) which is a 1963.

Not sure if there was a Birth Cert. ordered, but the build date should be August 29th, 1963

WOW! thats today!

Say "Happy Birthday" to your beetle JinxedSydney!

Yep, I was looking at that black chassis shot - which i had thought was from this car. Whoops. I would be curious to see this car's birth cert!

Has the 63 decklid, I see. (Early 64 had the newer style lid with the old style plate light housing.)

saw this in your gallery.

I have the same in mine... It's behind the tar boards on the passenger and drivers sides.

Sound insulation maybe?

I swear, I'm still here. Life totally gets in the way.

Progress...none. I have started doing things that I can do to finish her up with little to no spending. Today, I put the headliner bows up and stopped so that I could come in and look at pictures for reference. Scroll back farther and you'll see that I made my own headliner, Canadian style, due to rust on the tabs. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to make the ends stay into the front and back without sagging. At least I remembered to mark the front and rear of the pattern!

Wiring. It's all there. I just work on it until I get frustrated and then walk away. For me, it's the only way to do it.

As for the paint, I had sanded it down some and painted a couple of fenders, as well as completely painted the interior. Still haven't decided on the overall paint, but living in a dry climate helps me procrastinate with that decision.

Didn't do a body off. Thank God. Family medical issues interrupted this whole thing. Gertie sits on one side of the garage, partly put together. NCdad, THANKS for the screw measurements! Exactly what I needed.

I'll get there! I've had offers to sell her. No thanks. It's a love thing. It's gotta be...since it's certainly not a money thing!

Good to see that you still have it!
