All,
My fuel gauge quit working, so I dropped the fuel tank to replace the sending unit. However, I can't seem to find much information on the net about the sending unit.
Can someone please tell me the part number of the sending unit, and possibly some places where I can purchase the sending unit.
I saw 1 sending unit on ebay (VDO)... and it looks like mine, but an '81 rabbit pickup isn't listed on their auction.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

This number was written on the sending unit... 179919051C
Is this the part number?
I can't seem to find it on the net anywhere. The only VW sending unit I can find on the net is 171919051J. |

That looks like the part number. I had the same problem. I could not find a new one. I don't think they are available anymore. I had used a new one for a standard rabbit for awhile. I just bent the float a bit to match the Caddy one. I also had to drill the top and put a vent tube on it. It worked fine. I did finally find a good used one. I think I still have the modified one if you really need one I can sell it for cheap.
