| well when i boght my car the speedo wasnt workin so i manage to fix that by replacing the lil bow on the firewall, my question is now the oddometer and milelage deal aint workin was wondering if its the cluster itself or what else it could be? any help would be very helpful |

If the speedo is working and the odometer isn't, it's internal to the speedo head in the cluster. Usually the odometer quits working becuase of the little plastic gear on the end of the shaft that turns the numbers - it either cracks, or it just plain wallows out and doesn't grip the shaft good enough to turn the numbers over anymore. If it's a crack you're screwed, need to find a new gear. If it's just wallowed out, I've fixed them by taking that gear off, using a sharp pair of pliers to "knurl" the smooth metal shaft, and pressing the gear back on. I've put like 70K on my 85 Golf after doing this with no further odometer issues at all.

| hey thanks man yeah im assuming its the cluster then cause itll work everynow and then but only for a lil bit. ill have to take it apart and see |
