Hello everyone I usually post on the vanagon forum but a friend wanted me to inquire on here. He's has a 00' Jetta with 15" wheels and got a good deal on GTI alloy wheels. They are facotry VW 17" rims with low profile mich. tires. They are five spoke (I would guess 5 lug also) wheels. Will these fit? does he need spacers? Do I need to put them in the classifieds for him! Any help would be fantastic. Where would we be w/o the samba. Thanks folks.

Unlike the previous generation of VWs the Mk4 Golfs and Jettas, regardless of engine, all use the same 5x100mm bolt pattern on the wheels. If the 17" wheels are from a Mk4 GTI they will fit, no question.

Check the wheels for the backspacing measurement, and you will more than likely see that it is the same on the 17's as your friend's Jetta's original 15's(read: 'no spacers needed' 8) ). The backspacing is cast into the wheel as a two-digit number following the letters 'ET,' and it is in the center where the cap covers the lug bolts.

Thanks for the fix...I've had 5 A2's, and hers is the only 5-lugger we've had.
