| Changed the oil and lubed the front torsion bars and king pins. Jeez, grease is gross stuff. Smells bad, gets on everything, hard to get rid of, but I guess that's what it's supposed to do. :D |

^ I wear vinyl gloves! Makes an easy clean up!
So this weekend I managed to change the steering coupler, install the new steering damper, complete the rewire from the rear fire wall to tail light, wired up new wiper switch ( repro for 61 from airhead parts ), and finished my second "cleanair box."
What I'm calling clean air boxes incorporate a k&n air filter on each side of the engine bay. The PO cut a jagged 4x6 hole on each side I'm assuming to gain easy access to spark plugs.
So since I'm in the midst of installing a new engine, I decided to even out the holes and make a box out of steel that will be on a hinge. It will use two bolts to hold it down and to allow easy access. Once opened the air cleaner element will be removable to clean. This will also allow easy access to the dual carbs or spark plugs.
I'm going to put a piece of medium hole grill mesh in front of the filter to avoid it from catching bugs or rocks. The whole thing will be powder coated black to make it low key.
The hole on the inside will of course be through the tar board and will be finished off with pinch welt more commonly used for pop out quarter windows.
Ill post pictures once completed. I'm taking pictures each step of the way. |

| I recently put a 67 only air cleaner on the Beetle so this weekend I put on the correct breast plate, pulley tin, pulley nut cover tin, air cleaner mounting bracket, lower R/L breather tin, correct gen stand w/ oil filler, all associated hoses and pass thru gaskets. Does anyone have the right side air breather J-tube? I have the left one. Now I have to replace the aftermarket crank pulley and gen pulley (found both of them hand tight only  ) and chrome head tin (when rebuild) and move gas filter to under car. And after all that, replaced the driver widow rear felt and a 67 window crank by WW. Lastley, I poured a nice cold beer and smiled at all my efforts! |

Hi,
This week I finally got those adjustable spring plates installed. Those plates are awesome. I adjusted most of the negative camber out and I really like the way it's looking. I will try to post pics if I can figure out how to do that on here. |

| Got the engine in last Thursday and started it on Sunday. First time it's run in well over a decade. Fixed the oil leak from the left side rocker cover, got the window back in the driver's door with new scrapers and channel, greased the front end, disassembled and serviced the turn signal switch, rebuilt the wiper assembly. |
