Send the pics to me at rareairresto@aol.com & I'll post the pics for you. Otherwise, your description is too vague to identify

Looks like a Blaupunkt Frankfurt from about 57-58.

my03yellowv Tue May 13, 2008 9:39 am

is it worth restoring ? or worth anything?

Wiggy Tue May 13, 2008 9:40 am

I sent you a PM.

my03yellowv Tue May 13, 2008 10:02 am

If I don't get this restored I would like to sell it Wiggy showed interest but I would like to take offers on what people would be willing to pay for it so entertain me.

I would recommend that if Wiggy offered you a price that you are OK with, I would sell it to him since he's been helpful. What it seems you are doing is creating a bidding situation that might be better suited for another website

I am sure Kevin gave you a fair price. Most people who would be interested in the radio have no idea how much it will cost them to restore it. Kevin does, and that's why his offer is probably on target. You should consider it ,or be willing to spend a lot of money on restoration.

Wiggy Tue May 13, 2008 11:46 am

Yeah, if you want to sell it great, I'm interested. I'm likely going to convert it to a newer internals and MP3/Satellite Radio capability. If someone want to fork out the money to restore that radio, its easily $300-$400 to restore it, especially since its missing the knobs, faceplate, etc.

I'm cool either way. If you're going to bid it up, then just throw it on evilbay and be done with it.

If you decide to sell it, hit me up.

Chill I don't even know if I want to sell it and if I do I will let Wiggy know whats up...I really just wanted to identify if it would be correct for my car at this point.

If you have a US spec car........................you will need to change the buttons regardless of the year. Those letters were for the German market.

Is that KMMML on the buttons? If so then I think it's a Blaupunkt Autosuper A353E (1953-1954) http://gutefahrt.com/radio/blaupunkt.html

As always, it's a shame to think of it being gutted and used as a host for something more modern. I'm no expert on these matters but it looks pretty far gone. Too far gone for me to step up and take a punt on it for sure!

Doubtless you could find someone willing to take it on and fix it for you, but I think you'd need to be pretty honest with yourself about what it's worth to you and what you'd be prepared to spend getting there.

I'm chillin 8)

I bought it. I'll take some pics of the progress. What I do with it all depends on whether or not the thing works. If its totaled, then I will gut it (or at least save what I can for other radios).

it is not as bad as you would think the radio when installed looks toatlly stock (from the front)
as for the backside it is barely noticable.
my car will be at the classic this year feel free to see what you think of it in person(the radio  )

i only have the one knob on when i took the pic but the other is there

What did you do to the radio?

joshbuchan Thu May 15, 2008 8:22 pm

IPOD deal I think 8)

Russ Thu May 15, 2008 10:19 pm

i did what you were talking about kevin.
the radio is gutted and now runs AM/FM and has an ipod hookup to it.
honestly you would have to to take a second look at it to figure something is different with it
