that looks fantastic!

Thanks for the compliments guys - the paint code was supposed to be the original L21E Blood Orange but the kid mixing the paint forgot at least one tint - the red and maybe others. Turned out looking great though. I sold the car to my step-daughter's son right after those pics were taken. That car not only looks new from the outside it is brand new underneath too. It has all new or rebuilt steering parts - including steering box - lowered struts - present drop is 2" and it can go another 2" down but the tires would rub. It also has 4 wheel disc brakes from CB Performance. That car STOPS! If you are considering 4 corner disc brakes just do it! They are flat out awesome. And they will never need adjusting - unlike drum brakes. I've had decent drum brake setups with the sinistered bronze shoes - works great but the disc brakes beat em by a bunch. I could not make these fade. Couldn't find a big enough hill. And the handling is on par with the Ghia - and the ride is 5 times better.

Anyone in or around Seattle might spot that car - easy to see since it has that VW symbol etched into the rear glass. The car was going to be my daily driver and all round hot-rod with the 2110 I'm building but I ended up with a 71 Ghia that I just couldn't pass up since it was low mileage (117,000 - yes - they are still out there) with literally no rust except under the battery box - and the price was only $2500. So the Ghia donated it's engine to the 72 Super. The Ghia will be getting the same treatment this winter - a new interior and all new seals inside and out. I just can't see laying it up now when there is so much driving season left. I'll be wheeling around in the Ghia in it's present form with the 2110 in it in a few weeks. Just have to assemble it and time seems to be at a premium this time of year what with the fish biting - motorcycle buddies calling to go for a putt - and golfing - I'm always up for a round of golf.

I have never bashed supers per say, although I have always owned and prefered standards. When I got my first bug I had no mechanical experience,in 76. I have always been able to work on the front beam of a standard with ease. Today they offer alot more for the supers and I can turn a wrench so I would own one (71,72) but still like the looks of the standard.(None round nose)
